As I reflected on my use of technology this past year, I realized I was spending an unnecessary amount of time on social media (Instagram, Facebook and YouTube). Via Verizon, I literally saw a pie graph on how I was using my data and what apps I spent the most time on- it was ridiculous. It was excessive, wasn't fulfilling my time or providing mental clarity. Although it's one of my primary mediums of communicating and connecting with family + friends, I would fall victim to the black hole of hashtags quickly. I do think social media is a great tool to connect with people and can be used effectively but I was getting to the point where it was simply a waste of my time. (Being real, I don't think I'll ever officially delete any of those accounts for the aforementioned reason.) However, I'm just trying to be more conscious about how I spend my time using technology. I want to be more intentional on why, how and what I spend my time on. I figured, instead of spending x amount of minutes/hours on social media, I can write a blog post instead.
I had always thought about starting a blog. I finally feel like it's the perfect opportunity to learn and try something new and spend my time on something that's fulfilling me- mentally, physically, and spiritually.
My intentions for this blog:
- Time stamp of my life.
- Self expression through writing.
- Inspire others through my journey of living a more intentional lifestyle.
